One focus in the last few years has been setting up first a system of programme management and then a joint board process and performance 'dashboard' for the submarine base at Faslane and Coulport on the Clyde. The clients were the Royal Navy, the Ministry of Defence and Babcock International Group, Marine Division, who operate and maintain the Naval Base in a partnering relationship .

Whether you see the Base as protecting Britain's security, a necessary evil or just an evil, the UK has the Deterrent, and the submarines and their systems need to be managed and maintained in a safe, secure and cost-effective manner. My task on this project has been to facilitate the team that manages the support of the Submarines and the Deterrent and the associated infrastructure.

The thing that really made the difference was doing the people part properly and with specific skills: 'Your real strength has been mediation - getting people to talk to each other who wouldn't do that naturally. I just don't think we would have got there without you.' Captain Peter Merriman RN, Deputy Naval Base Commander.

'Classic self-starter. Able to interpret what's required, take board level responsibility and make it happen without needing further input, whilst coming forward with options when appropriate.' Craig Lockhart, Managing Director, Babcock, Marine Division.
